About NFU Mutual
Supporting people, families and businesses for over 100 years
Introducing NFU Mutual
NFU Mutual is owned by and run for our 900,000 customers, and we work hard to protect their interests. It’s this mutuality that sets us apart. From the network that we have with over 295 local agencies offering an attentive, local, personal service, to the tailored quotes that customers can’t get from price comparison sites, the needs of NFU Mutual customers are at the heart of everything we do.
That’s why supporting our communities is very important to us. We’re committed to championing rural communities through events and initiatives and continuing to offer the best care possible for our customers.

What NFU Mutual does
NFU Mutual is a leading provider of General Insurance, as well as offering a variety of Financial Planning Services. From our strong farming roots, we’ve grown to become a top 10 UK insurance company who in 2021 delivered a Gross Written Premium Income (GWPI) of over £1.8bn.
Yet success hasn’t gone to our heads. We’re proud to remain completely customer focused, down-to-earth and committed to the rural communities we’ve grown from. Our ethos – of trust, respect and personal service – lies at the heart of all we do and has seen us build an enviable reputation for exceptional member loyalty, which is why 9 out of 10 customers renew with us each year.
Today we offer an advice-rich proposition to both farming and non-farming customers. While we continue to support the farming community and remain an integral part of the British countryside, we’ve grown to offer an extensive range of personal and commercial covers, as well as investments and pensions, to a wide range of customers.

The Agency Network
Unlike many other UK insurers, we pride ourselves on offering attentive, local, personal service to customers that’s second to none, predominantly through a network of self-employed Agents, who run their own businesses independently, with the support of the strong and well-established NFU Mutual brand.
These self-employed Agents and their staff, take time to have real conversations with customers to ensure they have the right insurance for their needs. With a presence from John O’Groats to Land’s End, Belfast to Cardiff, with our roots in farming communities, we’ve built a reputation based on honest, trusted advice.

Our highly-rated products
We aim to make our products the best they can be, so that customers get great cover as standard. Many of our general insurance products have received the maximum 5 Star Rating from Defaqto and we’re a Which? Recommend Provider for home and car insurance, recognising our high standards of customer service and demonstrating our commitment to providing a comprehensive level of cover.
Our mutuality
It’s NFU Mutual’s mutuality which sets it apart. We’re owned and run for our 900,000 customers, and we work hard to protect their interests. This means we make decisions with their best interests in mind. It means they can be sure when they need our help that they can count on us to act quickly. It means that we can reward them with a Mutual Bonus saving on their General Insurance premium when they renew.
It means our NFU Mutual Charitable Trust can support local charities working in agriculture and rural development. Most of all, it means they see us as a trusted partner, rather than a provider. Someone they can rely on to offer top-class, local, personal service, so they can get on with their lives.
